Ontario man
wins Ultimate Poker Challenge
September 30
In Canada, luck seems to have paved the way for a recently new
poker player who won the first Ultimate Poker Challenge. The casino
poker event was hosted by the Point Edward Charity Casino near
Sarnia.
A player named Michael Brown won the impressive $68,563 by taking
first place at the poker tournament that ended on the 25th. An
audience of nearly 100 people waited for Brown to play his final
hand, a flush, to end the week-long competition.
After only playing for about a year, the 38 year-old Brown
entered the casino tourney by sheer whim when he saw the event
advertised. He even purchased the very last ticket left for
entry.
He was among 750 players who signed up and competed for a total
of $465,200 in prizes. The man from Ontario says he will use his
winnings to pay debts and build a new house.
Other big winners of the Ultimate Poker Challenge were Chad
Lewis. He was 2nd with $39,081 in winnings. Chris Adams was in 3rd
with $19,883 in winnings. IIan Gare won Overall Points. He won
$11,048.
Point Edward Charity Casino is owned and operated by the Ontario
Lottery and Gaming Corporation. Since opening over 5 years ago, the
casino has entertained more than 5 million players.
