Two of Lake
Charles' casino close due to impending Rita

Both Harrah's Lake Charles and Pinnacle Entertainment's
L'Auberge du Lac were temporarily closed due to the impending
hurricane baring down on the western coast of Louisiana and the
eastern boarder of Texas.
Harrah's Lake Charles includes a hotel with over 250 rooms
and two casinos totaling 60,000 square feet. It is home to nearly
1,400 casino employees. Harrah's wishes to resume typical gaming operations at Harrah's
Lake Charles as soon as it is safe to do so.
Despite the approach of the storm, Harrah's is continuing its
efforts to provide relief and recovery services to the nearly 8,000
employees displaced by Hurricane Katrina, which hit the Gulf Coast
on August 29.
Pinnacle's L'Auberge du Lac is also
located near Lake Charles next to the Calcasieu River. It will remain closed
until company officials feel it is safe to return to it. The company will be
keeping close watch on the property damage (if any) from its other two
casinos that are located further inland.
