Czech Republic shows huge rise in
casino gambling

Newspapers in Prague have been long reporting that people living in the
Czech Republic have been sidling-up to online casino gambling. Now that
the country labeled the industry as untraceable income, it has been
outlawed. Taking its place quickly is casino gambling by phone.
Historically, Czechs have been known for their lust for fast-winning
games. After midnight in the Republic, people can watch and participate
in games of chance providing real cash prizes right on the
television. With offerings and prizes quickly becoming more valuable,
people are tuning in and dialing their phones.
The Czechs like wagering. Whether it's online casino wagering, phone
wagering or any other type of gambling. They like it. Financial earnings
have proved it, too. In the past few years, the gambling industry has been
bursting. In 2004 Czechs wagered a record 84.6 billion crowns (local
money) on legal forms of casino-type betting. This number is a whopping
8.5 % higher than the year 2003. The 2004 betting field included
approximately four hundred different lottery and betting companies.
